Bolts of Nuts & Bolts

In quilting, a long piece of fabric that's usually wound on a flattened cardboard tube, making it

easy for merchants to stack fabrics together horizontally or vertically for display is

called a BOLT - did you know that?

And I just discovered that there are tons of bolts of fabrics with

nuts, bolts, screws, washers and wing nuts on them.

Look at these!

Can you believe there are so many?!

And who, besides me, would want these?

Actually, I'm not even sure I want them.

What would I do with these fabrics - make a dress? No way.

Throw-pillows? N-O!

Hmm...I have to think about it but I'm not really sure

anything would be cool made out of these.

However, some fabric vendors have a great sense of humor built

around their nuts & bolts - check these out:

The slogan over at Nuts & Bolts Fabric is "They are nuts about their bolts!"

At Thousands of Bolts they say "Thousands of bolts...only one nut!"

How would curtains look?

The Bolts...the band

We found a band called THE BOLTS (imagine our excitement!)

They're good too - strong guitar licks, four-part harmonies - and they're from Orange County, Calif! We definitely want to support local boys.

So we are happy to share with you THE BOLTS.

Here is where you can find more info about them: The Bolts Official Website

A Bolt through the Heart

This one is cute...we found it here

But this one is awesome!

And there's lots of bolts...and nuts, washers, rivets...through the heart.

You know we ♥ fasteners, right?

The BOLT Sound

BOLT AMPLIFIERS - we didn't see them at NAMM this year but they're definitely worth mentioning!

Check them out at BoltAmps.com

Music Month!

It's no secret that the largest music convention in the world comes to Anaheim, CA every year around this time.  So in honor of the NAMM show, we are dedicating January to music.

In 1983 Richard Barone & James Mastro released an album called:

NUTS & BOLTS

Great title - great 80's power pop!

Here's a song off of the NUTS & BOLTS album - enjoy.

Insane Bolt

Have you heard of Usain Bolt? He's insanely great!

Usain Bolt is the 2011 World Male Athlete of the year, becoming only the second man in history to win the prestigious award on three occasions. He holds World Records and he's won Olympic Gold Medals; he's arguably one of the greatest runners of all time.
I am going to quote a friend of mine, telling me about Mr. Bolt:

"He is the epitome of FULL MASTERY of your instrument.  He is in the OLYMPICS and 10 meters before the finish line he drops is arms and starts to pound his chest!!!!!  He has sooooo proven himself that he doesn't even need to finish.  Look at all the other athletes behind him and how intensely they are concentrating while he just gallops across the finish line as if he were a young colt on its way to an open pasture."

My friend goes on to say that as a spectator, there is a moment of disbelief, of awe, at what they are seeing; there's a joy at watching someone that is so good.
Here's the video of that Olympic moment:

Man-o-man - he's impressive!

BOLT BARBERS

BOLT BARBERS is barber shop in Downtown Los Angeles for social beasts (that's their slogan!)

"SHEAR SHAVE SHINE"

Clearly the name caught our eye because of the bolt reference but after checking it out we discovered this place also shares the same sensibility to life and business that we admire and strive to achieve & promote.

At their website I was pleasantly surprised to see that they are the type of company that is doing things in a new way - in their own unique way - which included integrity & community.  They're bringing back the neighborhood barber shop, "Just good old school barbering at DTLA prices in a neigborhood we're not trying too hard to "belong" in."

They sound great to me...now someone go get a haircut (!) and let us know how it goes

Best of luck BOLT BARBERS!

BOLT, The Movie

My nieces introduced me to a dog named BOLT this weekend.  He is the main character in a movie, aptly named after him, called BOLT.  Unfortunately his logo is a lightning bolt and not a fastener, but still, I had to watch the movie and hope for something good.

It was great!

This movie has so many values we can get behind like loyalty, commitment, honesty, truth & love.  Of course he's a dog, and loyalty is the number one trait of a good dog, but BOLT is the ultimate.  Once he discovers he's been living a lie he still doesn't stop being loyal or believing in the love of his person - and he goes out to find her.  And the unconditional love of a dog is also something special and BOLT reminds us of that too.  Lastly, this little dog helped to restore a little alley cat's faith in friendship with his unwavering sense of commitment.  It was so sweet.

We definitley recommend BOLT - here is a Link to the Trailer from 2008.

Anaheim Bolts
