We're in Style, People!

The September 2015 issue of People's Style Watch (this one)...

 Has put together an "On the Edge" hodgepodge of cool accessories and clothes, and we are currently in style - SEE!

They are earrings that, when you wear them, look like they have gone through your whole earlobe.

In case you can't read it, it says they are $23 and from a website called www.myjewelcandy.com

I have to say they got this one right - my sister has a pair and she does look cool in them.

Wedding Clamps

There is a great article over at Design Milk on clamp rings designed by Lu-Wei Chen of Taiwan, from the Drilling Lab.

These rings are awesome! 

One of those screws looks like it's gold!

The screws in these clamps have a head on them instead of being countersunk.

Am I crazy for thinking they look sophisticated?

Combinding the tough metal with the soft metal is the perfect harmony.

Freeway Fashions

So a while back I saw this on Etsy.com...

We decided to make our own version with flat washers instead of hex nuts.

And we were super lucky to have the cutest models visit us at work last week so they were our models.

First up, Dee is sporting your basic steel flat washer, in red...perfect for any gathering or social event for the 7 and under.

Next up my sister has on the extra-large-OD steel flat washer, done with gold ribbon "chain"...sleek and beautiful just like the lady wearing it.

And last, but not least, little Char-Char has on the super dangly, extra-large-ID flat washer, done in Zinc & Yellow so it's really pretty.

Side note: They had so much fun picking out which fasteners to wear that I don't who had more fun, them or me watching them - fasteners are sooooo FUN!!!!

She wears them well!

How Awesome!

I went to see my friend Sylvia at RSSA Home Improvement Center in Anaheim, CA and her awesomeness blew me away - LOOK AT THOSE EARRINGS! A slice of a bolt!

I love a lady who can wear fasteners - love ya' Sylvia!

A Corny Nut Ring

Look what we made - an acorn nut ring!

If you haven't bought your sweetie something by now, with plenty of time to ship, you're going to need to make something - perhaps like this - for a Valentine's gift.

We used a tiny little thing for the band - I would suggest getting a larger one...

this one turned out really cute but it barely fits my pinky!

UncommonGoods.com is another website I think sells great stuff, including fastener jewelry.

This is called the Sunshine Necklace - it's made of external lock washers.

The description on the website is so poetic &beautiful.

It's very sweet - perfect for a sweetie.

And how great is this?! It's a bracelet made out of stained glass in the shape of a hexagon - LOVE IT!

And then these - earrings that look like screws are going through your ears! What fun! One of my sisters has them and the next time she wears hers I will take a photo to post - they're awesome.

Etsy.com is the best site for fastener jewelry! It is full of creative people making awesome stuff...I'm seriously thinking about buying one of each of these - your valentine would be lucky to get any one of these beauties.

Fabulous February

This year, in honor of Valentine's Day, I will declare February - Jewelry month.

Fabulous Februarys from now on!

Februarys are now all about JEWELRY, about fabulous bling. Whether it's jewelry you make or jewelry you buy - it's all jewelry you can give to your valentine.  

Let's start off with the coolest ring ever: It's super masculine and super cool...the center of each gear is a slotted little screw...it takes my breath away every time...here it is:

High Fashion Fasteners

Have you ever seen a ring or bracelet that looks like this?

A company called Cartier  (I know you've heard of them!) sells them and they're called the LOVE Ring or the LOVE Bracelet. 

Do you recognize what they are using to evoke love?

And the jewelry is hugely successful!

Below is what the Cartier website says about their LOVE Collection: 

"The original provocative bracelet -created in the 1970's- which could only be opened with a tiny screwdriver. It soon became a piece of cult jewellery for modern day lovers.  A Cartier icon, the LOVE collection is both a provocative talisman and a bold symbol of passionate love. Allow yourself to become one with your partner, possess or let yourself be possessed… How far would you go for LOVE?" 

Very cool. 

The LOVE Collection was designed by a man named Aldo Cipullo, a designer for Cartier between 1969 and 1974. Recently the Cartier Mansion on 5th Avenue in New York, their flagship store, displayed an exhibit of archival images called, "Cartier & Aldo Cipullo, New York City in the ’70s".  This line was a huge success for Cartier then and even now!

“I became a great connoisseur of nuts, screws and other fasteners. This hardware, as hard as it is in appearance, has a certain warmth. The jewelry must generate heat.” said Aldo Cipullo, from an article on Stylerumer.com

So I thought I should get myself one and I looked them up on Ebay - $855 PEOPLE!!!  And that's discounted! Whoa...I think I'll just admire them from a far actually.  

But thanks Aldo for making my little fasteners sexy...and expensive!
